So the idea behind this pizza is pretty simple… We combined one of our favorite pub foods with pizza and that’s how the Buffalo Chicken Pizza was born.
You will need:
- Pizza Dough (your own recipe or mine)
- Ranch Dressing
- Shredded Chicken
- 1/3 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 3 tbsp honey
- Grated cheddar, marble, or monterey jack cheese
- Cooked bacon, chopped (optional)
- Blue Cheese(optional)
- Green Onions, chopped for garnish (optional)
Once you’ve rolled out your pizza dough, spread some ranch dressing on it. In a separate bowl, combine the Frank’s, melted butter, and honey and then toss your shredded chicken in it to coat it well. Spread the shredded chicken over the pizza and top with grated cheese and some chopped cooked bacon.
We cook the pizza on the BGE pizza stone at about 650F over indirect heat for 4 to 5 minutes. Keep an eye on it, it can burn pretty quickly.
When the pizza is done, take of the Egg, add green onions and cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
Here are a couple of different posts with pictures from the multiple times we have made these pizzas (slightly different each time).
Start with a Ranch or Blue Cheese salad dressing as the base. We used Ranch this time, but Blue Cheese is awesome if you like it!
Then add your chicken. In this case I cooked up a couple of chicken legs on the Egg first. We like dark meat so I did whole legs. I cooked them raised grid at about 375F and shredded them when they were done, then we tossed them in the Buffalo sauce.
Then load up the pizza!
Next, add some pre-cooked bacon (by pre-cooked I mean bacon you cooked yourself, not store bought bacon bits… but I guess you could use those, it just wouldn’t be as good!)
Then top with cheese. We just used shredded mozza in this case, but let the world of cheese be your oyster. We should have also added some blue cheese at this point, but forgot to get some… oops!
And Voila! Buffalo Chicken Pizza
We used some ranch dressing for the sauce for the pizza then tossed some chunked up chicken in Franks Buffalo Wing Sauce, Honey and Butter.
We put a blend of mozza and cheddar on the whole pizza on blue cheese only on my half, which is something I have been wanted to try for a while. We also left the bacon off of this one.
After 4 minutes on the Egg it was done and ready to come in and rest and was topped with some fresh green onions.
