As some of you may remember back in the summer I started eating a LOT more vegetarian dishes and I even dabbled with the idea of doing a second blog that was dedicated to vegetarian and vegan grilling.
The blog didn’t last long because our son was just born and after I went back to work after a few weeks off, reality set in and I had no time to blog at all. I shut this blog and the vegetarian blog down but resurrected Winnipeggheads about a 6 weeks ago when I started my parental leave. I still am quite busy, but nap times are sometimes a nice break to do some blogging.
One thing that hasn’t changed in the past 8 months is that I have not been eating any red meat. I still cook it for Jackie or friends or parties, but I have not been eating it (with 2 exceptions where I had a taste to see how it turned out).
Over the past 8 months I have lost about 35 pounds since giving up red meat and as it stands right now I am eating vegetarian about 5 days a week already. I find I feel better on the days where I eat veggie compared to the days I eat poultry or fish. I got the idea to do “Meatless In May” from some other blogs I follow which that encourage people to do a single meatless day of the week, but I am going to take it a step further and do it for a month and see how I feel at the end of it.
Jackie is by no means going veggie so I will still be cooking meat for her and I have a ton of old posts and photos I have been meaning to blog about but haven’t gotten to, so not to worry my non-veggie friends… I will still occasionally post about cooking meat, even if I am not eating it myself.
