Welcome Winnipeg EGGHeads

We have started our own little Winnipeg-based fan club of the Big Green Egg and are the self-dubbed “WinnipEggheads.”  Welcome to our blog on all things Egg-related.

We are Brian and Jackie, self-proclaimed food enthusiasts, and owners of our very own Big Green Egg.  We were first introduced to the Big Green Egg at the first annual Fargo Eggfest in 2011.  After months of researching barbecues and smokers, Brian was intrigued by the Big Green Egg and wanted to see them in action.  He got on the BGE forums and found the nearest Eggfest and the rest is history.  We came home from Fargo Eggfest with our very own Egg – a demo unit from the Eggfest.

Well, we’ve had our Egg for 6 months and will never be able to go back to our regular gas and charcoal barbecues (we have 4 of them!), it’s been so fantastic being able to smoke and grill all winter, which we could never do before as it was impossible to get the temperature high enough in a metal barbecue with our frigid winter temperatures.  We’re so happy with our Egg that we’re planning on bringing a second one home from this year’s Fargo Eggfest!  We’re also planning to volunteer to cook at Eggfest this year and are already planning out our menus and adapting recipes for the Egg.  Don’t worry, we’ll post all about our trials as we prepare to represent Winnipeg this September.
